Thank you to everyone who came out and supported us at Sunday's Fall Breakfast. It was a great success, and the
proceeds will allow for new safety equipment to be purchased for your firefighters. Thank you again.
10-17-07 Wednesday
Captain Douglas Zirkle from our sister company, Seabrook Fire & Rescue (station 32) gave a course to our
membership tonight on the operation of his company's rescue truck. This is just the most recent effort between our
companies to train together and cross-train our members on each others' equipment in an effort to provide a more
seem-less service to the community. Never before have our companies been so closely knit and we feel that we are
now able to provide for our citizens better than ever before because of it.
10-01-07 Monday
Congratualtions to our brother, Lewis and his wife, Jordan on the birth of their first child, a girl. Madison Rene
Schewlakow was born at 11:04 AM at South Jersey Healthcare's Regional Medical Center weighing in at 8 pounds, 2

> Last night, in South Carolina, nine firefighters from the City of Charleston Fire Department tragically made the
ultimate sacrifice on the job. This is one of the largest single-incident losses of firefighters' lives in our country's history.
Our hearts and thoughts are with their loved ones and their department.
05-31-07 Thursday
> This past Mother's Day, Bruce Stewart, a founding father of UDVFC #3, fellow firefighter, and dear friend passed
away after a lengthly illness. A private service was held. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family. He will be missed.
05-24-07 Thursday
> Dispatched with Station 31 and Squad 34 for a reported dwelling on Old Deerfield Pike. Seabrook Fire and Rescue
(Staiton 32) Captain Douglas Zirkle arrived on scene, confirmed the fire was "working," at which time his station was
added to the alarm. Engine 3301 was first apparatus on scene and encountered heavy smoke and fire from the B/C
corner. Brunt of fire quickly knocked down, but some stubborn hot spots kept firefighters busy for over an hour. City of
Bridgeton Fire Department and Rosenhayn Fire and Rescue Assisted. Click
here for full story and additional pictures.
A first for the township, while battling this blaze, a second "working" dwelling was dispatched for Station 31's district.
Tragically it was at the home of an Upper Deerfield Township firefighter.

> A little bit of insanity this week. Sunday morning, dispatched to 1 Landis Ave, at the New Jersey State Police
Barracks for a Motor Vehicle Accident/Rescue Assignment. Apparently, a 29 year old man was driving West on Landis
Ave, when he made probably the biggest mistake of his life.
Click here for more. Then Monday night, the station was
dispatched to Salem County, Lower Alloways Creek Township to cover L.A.C. Station 18-1 while they aided Pennsville
Township with a massive tire fire.
Click here for more. And as I type, the ground outside is starting to ice over and the
accidents have already begun...
01-22-07 Saturday
> Winter has finally arrived! Slick, snow-covered roads caused numerous accidents in Cumberland County last night,
including two in our area. Irving Ave was like a skating rink, which led to a four-car accident that made a mess of the
main East-West corridor for over an hour. Luckily no one sustained serious injury. Only a few minutes after returning to
quarters, we were sent out to N. Pearl St for an MVA Rescue Assignment. A Ford Ranger flipped, went through a
fence, knocked over a 5000 gallon propane tank and came to rest on its side. The driver was un-injured, but did require
minor extrication. It was later discovered that the propane tank was empty and posed no danger. NJ State Police,
Upper Deerfield Emergency Medical Services (Squad 34), Seabrook Fire & Rescue (Station 32), and Cumberland
County Fire Police (Station 87) assisted us in both incidents.
01-16-07 Tuesday
> UDVFC #3 would like to welcome Firefighter Brian Marks to our family. Brian is a recent graduate of the Cumberland
County Public Safety Training Center's Firefighter I program and is a full-time EMT for Bridgeton City. We look forward
to serving beside him.

12-07-06 Thursday
> FIRE! At 1845 yesterday evening, Stations 33, 32, and Squad 34 dispatched to S. Burlington Rd for a "structure."
Cumberland County Fire Marshal 1 arrived on scene one minute later reporting large garage fully involved w/ large
quantities of propane and other chemicals inside. 3301 arrived on location to find an all steel quanset-hut style garage
approx 40'x100' fully involved with multiple explosions. The garage was used by a local resident to restore classic cars.
In all, it took firefighters from 5 stations nearly 2 1/2 hours to place the fire under control, although neither the garage or
its contents could be salvaged. Units stayed on scene throughout the night to gaurd against rekindle. Read more

> Because we know some people like to start decorating for the holidays early, check THIS out.
11-09-06 Wednesday
> Drill held last night with Stations 31, 32, 29 and Squad 34. At 6:30PM, all Upper Deerfield Township Fire Companies
and UDEMS were dispatched to 51 Cornwell Dr for a dwelling reported with entrapment. A large three bedroom house,
scheduled for demolition in the coming days was donated for one night of intense training. Firefighters practiced search
and rescue, fire suppression (although there was no actual fire), roof ventilation, wall breaching, rescuing a downed
firefighter, and a variety of other skills, while members of the Squad got to practice their skills in firefighter rehabilitation.
The drill was considered a huge success by all and we hope to be able to have another one like it very soon. Drills like
these allow your firefighters to better develop the skills needed to serve you. A big thanks goes out to all who made this
drill possible and to
Rosenhayn Volunteer Fire and Rescue (Sta 29) for their assistance. Pictures HERE.
