12-23-07 1941 Hours Working Dwelling Fire 64 Old Deerfield Pike
|
Stations 33 & 32, and Squad 34 dispatched for a dwelling fire. Engine 3301
responded, requesting a second alarm on response due to reports of fire "working." This
brought Rosenhayn Fire & Rescue (station 29) for Rescue 2921, Bridgeton FIre
Department (station 7) for Ladder 705, Upper Deerfield Vol. Fire Co. #1 for Engine 3104,
and Hopewell-Stow Creek Fire Co. (station 21) for a cover assignment. First arriving units
were confronted with a heavy smoke condition in the residence. Primary search of the
first floor proved negative. Crews advanced an inch 3/4 line to the second floor walk-up
attic. Ladder 705's crew provided roof ventilation. Second floor search also proved
negative. Majority of the fire was located behind a knee wall to the A side (front) of the
attic and a quick stop was made before the fire could travel to other areas of the home.
Crews conducted overhaul and terminated operations after little more than two hours on
scene. Two residents were able to escape without injury, despite their smoke alarm failing
to sound. No firefighters sustained injury. UDEMS conducted firefighter rehab while
Rescue 2921's crew provided cascade operations. The residence sustained significant
fire damage to the second floor and smoke and water damage throughout, but is not
believed to be a loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Cumberland
County Fire Marshal's office, but is not believed to be suspicious.
As always, many thanks to our neighboring companies who assisted our crews and
our citizens.
